The 2024 ACCC General Assembly / Annual Meeting was held last Oct 10-12 in Manila, Philippines. It also marked the 10th year of solidarity in climate action of members since 2014, which started in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
It was a jam-packed 3-day meeting. Day 1 started with discussions on Climate Science and Climate Justice with the help of experts, unpacking the current state of play, and leveling off current understanding, which will be the basis of all discourse during the 3-day meeting.
Day 2 was composed of (1) a community visit to the affected communities of floating solars in Laguna Lake and discussed “Just Energy Transition”-related concerns, (2) a dialogue with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regarding the Philippines being the host of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD) and the potential role of CSOs in the development of the fund mechanism.
Day 3 was all about processing and unpacking the discussions and outputs of the first two days of the meeting. During the 3rd day, ACCC was also able to briefly plan the 2025 ACCC advocacy activities and identify key activities and engagements to focus on next year.
A lot has been discussed especially with the preparations for COP29 and beyond. Next year, in 2025, ACCC will go back to the place where it all started, the ACCC annual meeting will be held in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
